Privacy & Cookie Policy

Effective date: 6 October 2026 · Contact: [email protected]

This policy explains what information Dateline Wire ("we", "us") collects when you visit datelinewire.com, how we use it, and the choices you have. We designed the site to collect only data necessary for operations, security, analytics, and advertising.

Information we collect

  • Server logs. Like virtually every website, our hosting infrastructure records standard technical data: IP address, browser type, requested pages, referring page and timestamps. We use these only for security, debugging and aggregate traffic statistics, and they are rotated automatically.
  • Reading statistics. We count article views in aggregate. This counter stores no personal identifiers — only the fact that an article was viewed.
  • Information you send us. If you email us, we receive your address and message and use them only to respond.

We do not require accounts, we do not sell personal data, and we do not run our own tracking profiles of readers.

Cookies and Third-Party Services

Dateline Wire loads third-party tools and services for advertising, traffic measurement, security, and multimedia. Specifically, this site loads:

  • Google AdSense and Google Consent Management. We display advertising served by Google AdSense and utilize Google's Certified CMP (Funding Choices) to deliver consent notices. Google and its advertising partners use cookies and device identifiers to personalize ads (where consented), limit frequency, and report performance. You can manage your preferences via the Google consent dialog or at Google Ads Settings. For more information, see Google Ads Privacy.
  • Google Analytics 4. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand reader navigation, session duration, and aggregate content engagement. GA4 collects pseudonymous identifiers and IP-derived location data to help us improve coverage. Learn more at Google Privacy Policy.
  • StatCounter. We use StatCounter to count visits and page views and to see which sites refer readers to us. Learn more at StatCounter Privacy Policy.
  • BYOViral Analytics. We use BYOViral web analytics to count page views and to see which pages, countries and referring sites bring readers. Learn more at BYOViral Privacy Policy.
  • YouTube (Privacy-Enhanced Mode). When articles feature video reporting, we load a click-to-play video facade. Connections to YouTube and Google servers, along with their cookies, are loaded only after you explicitly click play on the video. Learn more at YouTube Privacy Policy.
  • Cloudflare Security. Our site is routed through Cloudflare for DDoS protection and content acceleration. Cloudflare may set necessary security cookies (such as bot management tokens) to protect our readers and servers. Learn more at Cloudflare Privacy Policy.
  • Browser Local Storage (dw_theme). We store your choice of light or dark theme in your browser's local storage (key: dw_theme) so your reading preferences persist across page visits without tracking your identity.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings at any time; the editorial content of this site remains fully accessible.

Legal bases (EU/EEA readers)

Where the GDPR applies, we process server logs and security cookies under legitimate interest (site security and operation); advertising and measurement cookies are processed only as permitted under applicable consent rules via our Google CMP; correspondence is processed to answer you. We keep personal data no longer than needed for these purposes.

Your rights

Depending on your jurisdiction (including GDPR and CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of your personal data, to object to processing, and to data portability. California residents additionally have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising privacy rights and may opt out of the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information as defined by the CCPA — we do not sell personal information. To exercise any right, email [email protected]; we respond within the legally required timeframe. EU readers may also lodge a complaint with their local supervisory authority.

Children

Dateline Wire is a general-audience news site and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe a child has sent us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Data security and transfers

The site is served over HTTPS through a global content delivery network. Technical data may be processed in countries outside your own; where required, transfers rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses used by our infrastructure providers.

Changes to this policy

We will post any changes on this page and update the effective date above. Significant changes will be noted on the site.
